April 16, 2007, representatives of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund visited the Koroliov Astronautics Museum as part of their working trip to Zhytomyr. Members of the delegation were Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Kateryna Yushchenko, Head of the Friends of the Children Charitable Fund Maryna Krysa, Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Oleksandr Maksymchuk, Director of the Hospital to Hospital program Vira Pavliuk, and Head of the Information and Analysis Department at the Ukrainian Museums Development Center Vladyslav Pioro. The guests were accompanied by wife of the Head of the Zhytomyr Oblast State Administration Yuliya Pavlenko, Deputy Head of the Zhytomyr Oblast State Administration for Humanitarian Issues Ihor Orlov, and Head of the Zhytomyr Oblast Rada Iryna Syniavska. The guests visited Serhiy Koroliov’s memorial house and Space Pavilion, talked to the museum’s administration and staff workers. On behalf of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund, Mrs. Yushchenko handed over to the museum’s director Olha Kopyl a set of books including General Museology by Friedrich Waidacher, Kyiv Windows Opening to the Universe by Kazantseva and Kisliuk (from the Unknown Ukraine series), and Management in Culture two-volume reference book. In their turn, the museum representatives presented Mrs. Kateryna with an icon. The museum was created in 1970 in a house that used to belong to Academician Serhiy Koroliov. The memorial part of the display narrates about life and works of the renowned scientist, founding father of the practical astronautics, designer in rocket production and astronautics. In 1991 the Space exposition was constructed by an original project next to the memorial house, displaying a unique collection of space machinery. The visitors can see exhibits related to the history of Ukrainian astronautics, space philosophy, and a library on space subjects. In general, the museum keeps over 7,000 displays, over 1,500 of them being unique. In 1993 a showroom was created at the museum, forming a collection of paintings on the space theme. The museum’s director Olha Kopyl is member of the Ukrainian Museums Development Center and participant of its projects. In 2006 she won a grant on a contest basis. ![]() |
