The award went to Personae: Essays on Historical, Political, and Cultural Figures by Yaroslav Dashkevychm published by Lviv-based Pyramid Literary Agency in 2007. The Cossacks’ Fame for the Little Readers project envisaged presenting the Ukraine’s Hetmans books to schools in Poltava, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv oblasts. The book contains an intense and captivating story of our country in the Cossacks’ times, is richly illustrated, and is intended for junior and secondary schoolchildren, as well as all readers striving to learn more about Ukraine’s history.

The Ukrainian Museum Development Center has received a present from the Embassy of the United States of America to Ukraine: a set of foreign publications on history, arts, and cukture history. The books will replenish the funds of a specialized public museum library, the Center’s subdivision.

Mrs. Yushchenko handed over to Head of the Chernihiv Oblast State Administration Mykola Lavryk a certificate for 850 copies of the Ukraine’s Hetmans for the Chernihiv oblast schools and libraries. 770 copies are to be distributed among schools and another 80 among the oblast libraries.

Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko Meets with Experts and Winners of the First Stage of the Grants Program for Small Cultural and Art Projects
In course of the meeting, the experts gave their evaluation of the project submitted to the contest, noting the importance of non-governmental support for cultural projects, since there are no other grant programs of this kind in Ukraine. Representatives of the winning organizations presented their projects to be implemented with the participation of Ukraine 3000 Foundation and took part in their discussion.
