Sribny Dzvin Vocal and Musical Competition Held in Uzhhorod Supported by Ukraine 3000 Foundation
November 29, 2008, till December 4, the Eighth Sribny Dzvin [Silver Chime] International Children’s and Youth Vocal and Musical Competition is held in Uzhhorod, supported by Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation. This event, organized by the Sribny Dzvin Zakarpattia Oblast Charitable Foundation, received a grant within the framework of the small cultural and arts projects support program, launched by the Foundation in 2008.
Around 70 singers and 9 instrumental ensembles from all Ukraine’s oblasts, Russia, Belarus, Slovakia, Hungary, and the US are taking part in the competition. The participants are aged from 6 to 23. The panel of judges includes renowned musicians from Ukraine, Belarus, Austria, and Slovakia and is presided over by the Head of the National Composers’ Alliance of Ukraine Yevhen Stankovych, with People’s Artiste of Ukraine Hizela Tsipola being head of the vocal contest jury.
The contest hearings and solo concerts by members of the panel and last years’ winners are hosted by the Zakarpattia Philharmonics’ Big Hall. According to the competition organizers, its major goals are finding and supporting young talents, furthering the development of traditional academic and folk arts, and establishing contacts between artistic organizations in Ukraine and abroad.
