Kateryna Yushchenko Unveils the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine Documents Exhibition at Warsaw University
November 6, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko took part in the unveiling of the Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine documents exhibition. Among other participants of the event, hosted by Warsaw University, were Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Poland Oleksandr Motsyk, representatives of the diplomatic corps in Poland, faculty members and student of the University, and Ukraine 3000 Foundation members.
The Holodomor of 1932-1933 in Ukraine documents exhibition was prepared by the Poland’s Institute of National Remembrance and Archive of the Security Service of Ukraine.
Addressing the audience, Mrs. Kateryna thanked the organizers for their “work aimed at restoring the historical truth about horrible events taking place in Ukraine in 1932-1933.” “I’m also grateful to the University of Warsaw, which has been raising Polish patriots for centuries, preserving the spirit of the independent and free Poland through hard times,” Mrs. Kateryna said. She also emphasized the fact that “the cooperation between our countries, our ability to hold scholarly discussion and understand various moments of our history is an example of true good neighborliness, of which we are so proud.”
Mrs. Yushchenko toured the exhibition and talked to the students, diplomats, and journalists.
Later Mrs. Kateryna had a brief meeting with Rector of the University of Warsaw. Prof. Dr. Katarzyna Józefa Chałasińska-Macukow and head of the Ukrainian Studies Chair Prof. Stefan Kozak.
Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko and Ukraine 3000 Foundation members are staying in Warsaw for a working visit for opening the Days of Ukrainian Cinema in Poland.
