Kateryna Yushchenko Takes Part in the Vyshyvankas Blossom in the Borshchiv Land Show
September 14, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko visited the Vyshyvankas Blossom in the Borshchiv Land ethno festival in Borshchiv, Ternopil oblast. The festival was organized by the city district councils.
Mrs. Yushchenko took part in a show held in Borshchiv city center. She visited a fair-exhibition, presenting the embroidering and singing culture of every village in Borshchiv district and the Borshchiv 2008 borsch fest. Mrs. Kateryna took part in cooking borsch in the central city square at a borsch cooking competition, where every village presented to the public its own borsch recipe.
Kateryna Yushchenko emphasized that the Borshchiv district residents were good not only at preserving their traditions, in part, in embroidering and cooking, but also at successfully popularizing them.
The Vyshyvankas Blossom in the Borshchiv Land ethno festival was held for the second time. This year, the visitors had a chance to familiarize themselves with samples of embroidery traditions preserved in every Borshchiv district village, and also to buy the vyshyvankas they liked. The Borshchiv Embroidered Shirt within the Context of Ukrainian National Costume scholarly conference was held within the framework of the festival, along with the Borshchiv Shirts from Vira Matkovska’s Collection album presentation. At the Borshchiv 2008 fest, Ukraine’s only borsch festival, the cooks had made and presented for degustation 300 liters of this Ukrainian national dish.
