Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund’s Project, Cossacks’ Fame for the Little Readers, Completed
July 7, 2007, the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund’s project, Cossacks’ Fame for the Little Readers, completed with delivering 850 copies of the Ukraine’s Hetmans book to Cherkasy oblast libraries and schools.
The Cossacks’ Fame for the Little Readers project envisaged presenting the Ukraine’s Hetmans books to schools in Poltava, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Sumy, and Kharkiv oblasts. The book contains an intense and captivating story of our country in the Cossacks’ times, is richly illustrated, and is intended for junior and secondary schoolchildren, as well as all readers striving to learn more about Ukraine’s history.
The Cossacks’ Fame for the Little Readers project was launched in Poltava February 27, 2007. On that day, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund Kateryna Yushchenko, visiting Poltava oblast for a one-day working trip, passed over certificates for 1,000 copies of the Ukraine’s Hetmans book to the Head of Poltava Oblast State Administration, representatives of the Ivan Kotliarevsky Poltava Oblast Scientific Library, and Poltava Oblast Children’s Library.
March 29, 2007, Ukraine’s Hetmans books were passed over to Kharkiv oblast schools and libraries. President of the Friends of the Children Charitable Fund and Member of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Supervisory Board Maryna Krysa delivered a certificate for 1,100 copies of the Ukraine’s Hetmans book to the Deputy Head of the Kharkiv Oblast State Administration.
Sumy oblast received the book on May 10, with Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko delivering a certificate for 800 copies to the Head of the Sumy Oblast State Administration.
June 14, 2007, Mrs. Yushchenko handed over to the Head of the Chernihiv Oblast State Administration Mykola Lavryk a certificate for 850 copies of the Ukraine’s Hetmans. 770 copies were to be distributed among schools and another 80 among the oblast libraries.
Finally, July 7, 2007, Mrs. Yushchenko gave a certificate for 850 copies of the book to Cherkasy authorities’ representatives.
Thus, schools and libraries of five Ukraine’s oblasts have received a total of 4 650.
The Ukraine’s Hetmans books were being delivered as a part of the Year of the Book in Ukraine. It is not by accident that descendants of the famed Ukrainian getmans were first to make acquaintance with this book. We hope that the present will come in handy for many children, giving them a chance to peep in our country’s glorious past.
