Representatives of the Ukraine 3000 Fund Take Part in the Modern Museum: Between a Treasury and a Business Conference
Head of the Information and Analysis Department of the Ukrainian Center for Museum Development Vladyslav Pioro took part in the Modern Museum: Between a Treasury and a Business international conference taking place in Chernivtsi on October 9-10, 2006.
October 9, at the conference opening ceremony, Mr. Pioro handed over sets of books from the Ukrainian Center for Museum Development to the Chernivtsi National Fedkovych University Scientific Library and Chernivtsi Oblast Universal Scientific Library. The event was held within the framework of the all-Ukrainian action presenting books to Ukraine’s libraries, conducted by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund, the Fund for Developing Ukraine’s National Arts Museum, and Center for Museum Development. Within several months 180 national, oblast, and regional libraries, including university libraries, will be granted six albums of the Ukraine’s National Arts Museum and sets of books on Ukraine’s archeology, history, and culture.
At the plenary session Mr. Pioro gave a report titled Problems in Introducing Electronic Bookkeeping of Ukraine’s Museum Items. In his report Mr. Pioro outlined mission tasks of the Ukrainian Center for Museum Development in this sphere. He said, in part, that July 10, 2006, a working group was created at Ukraine’s Ministry for Culture and Tourism to develop unified software for museum bookkeeping. At present the working group is preparing standard requirements for and criteria of selecting software for museum bookkeeping and elaborating regulatory and procedural guidelines.
The Modern Museum: Between a Treasury and a Business international conference was organized by the Austrian Library and Bukovyna History Center at the Chernivtsi National Fedkovych University, supported by the Lviv-based Ukrainian-Austrian Bureau of Cooperation in Science, Education, and Culture. Renowned Ukrainian and Austrian museum professionals took part in the conference.
