Artek Dialogs Annual Educational Forum Results Presented
September 20, 2008, the Suuk-Su Palace on the grounds of the Artek International Children’s Center hosted a plenary session, summing up the results of the Artek Dialogs Annual Educational Forum. Among the participants of the session were Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko, Minister for Education and Science Ivan Vakarchuk, Deputy Minister for Family, Youth, and Sports Tetiana Kondratiuk, People’s Deputy of Ukraine Lesia Orobets, President of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences Vasyl Kremin, Artek International Children’s Center Director General Borys Novozhylov, International Center for Future Studies Director Volodymyr Nikitin, heads of Ukrainian and foreign educational institutions, youth, and public organizations.
The sector’s moderators presented the results of the sessions. The speakers outlined major theses under discussion. In the two days of the Forum, its participants have discussed a wide range of Ukrainian educational system’s problems, from preschool to postgraduate education. The moderators presented the proposals resulted from the discussion and passed them over to the organizers for further creation of the White Book of National Education on their basis.
President of the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences Vasyl Kremin, International Center for Future Studies Director Volodymyr Nikitin, People’s Deputy of Ukraine Lesia Orobets, and Minister for Education and Science Ivan Vakarchuk also delivered speeches.
As a result of the plenary session, a decision was made to study and methodize the sessions’ and Youth Assembly’s results and begin the creation of the White Book of National Education.
The Ukraine 3000 Foundation, organizer of the Artek Dialogs Annual Educational Forum, delivered decorations to its partner helping in organizing the Forum – the Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine, Shkilny Svit [School World] Publishers, and Artek International Children’s Center. The awards were delivered by Head of the Supervisory Board Kateryna Yushchenko.
Mrs. Kateryna thanked those present for the open and informative discussion. “We come back to Kyiv with a long list of tasks and ideas,” she said. “I hope each of you will make effort to bring these ideas to life.”
Mrs. Yushchenko expressed her hope that the next Artek Dialogs forum will be marked by the same freedom and openness and bid the participants a strive to find concrete steps to solve the problems of the educational system and the strength to make these steps happen.
The session also featured a performance by Nobel Concerts leading expert Michail Kazinik, Doctor of Fine Arts (Stockholm, Sweden).
In the evening, the closing ceremony was held, in course of which all participants received their respective certificates.
The Artek Dialogs Forum was held from September 18 to 21. It featured six sessions and two meetings of the Youth Assembly. Additionally, presentations of charitable programs, educational centers and technologies, and social projects were held. Almost 350 representatives of the educational community, international institutions, business, public, youth, and charitable organizations from Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, Poland, Moldova, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Great Britain, Germany, and Turkey took part in its work.
