By the contest conditions, its participants have an opportunity to select the best works among those sent to the contest. Every participant can send a letter from his/her email address indicated in their submission forms, voting for any three works they believe the best.

To take part in the competition, you have to write a paper “My View on the Modern Educational Model in Ukraine.” The paper has to contain a description of educational issues, analysis, and ways to fight them, and general outlines of the national educational model.

Currently, during the fifth shift (June 22-July 12) ten winners are staying in Artek. Another 14 are to go there for the sixth shift (July 15-August 4). Among the young contestants are students from schools, lyceums, and gymnasiums from all Ukraine’s regions who have gone through the regional selections and meet certain age criteria.

“Launching the Doing Good Starts with You program last September, we realized how timely and important it was for the Ukrainian society,” Mrs. Yushchenko said in her speech. “We are certain that charity is one of the major elements in children’s upbringing. According to the Contest Statute, the Organizing Committee has given a privilege to Kyiv and Kyiv oblast as the second region by the number of submitted works. Winners of both the first and second places will be invited to participate in the national selections. The contestants sharing the first or second place will be both invited to the national selections.

Every participant of the selections received a certificate of the contest participant. The authors of best works were awarded with diplomas. The first place winners will defend their papers in Kyiv at the national stage of the contest scheduled for March 28-29, 2008.

The Committee approved the application form of the charitable project, through which leaders of the projects participating in the second stage of the Doing Good Starts with You program will submit information on the results of their projects. This form will be distributed among all 112 participants of the pilot group, implementing their charitable projects from January till April. The deadline for submitting information is April 20, 2008.

Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko Meets with Experts and Winners of the First Stage of the Grants Program for Small Cultural and Art Projects
In course of the meeting, the experts gave their evaluation of the project submitted to the contest, noting the importance of non-governmental support for cultural projects, since there are no other grant programs of this kind in Ukraine. Representatives of the winning organizations presented their projects to be implemented with the participation of Ukraine 3000 Foundation and took part in their discussion.
