Expert with the Joy of the Childhood: Free Movements Program Attends Academic and Research Conference on Rehabilitation for Children with Nervous System Impairments
June 26-27, 2008, expert with the Joy of the Childhood: Free Movements program Olha Kvasha visited the Development and Implementation of a Transnational Social and Medical Program for Rehabilitation for Children with Nervous System Impairments Belonging to National Minorities or Socially Vulnerable Population Groups final academic and research conference. The conference was held in Mukacheve as part of the transborder cooperation project by the European Commission in Ukraine and Peto Institute for Conductive Education (Budapest, Hungary) with the support of the Healthcare Administration at the Zakarpattia OSA.
Among the participants of the event were representatives of the European Commission in Ukraine, Peto Institute for Conductive Education (Budapest, Hungary), Big Szabolcs Hospital (Kiswarda, Hungary), Healthcare Administration at the Zakarpattia OSA, Zakarpattia Oblast Children’s Hospital, and Rosynka Rehabilitation Center for Children with Organic Lesions of the Nervous System at Zakarpattia Oblast Children’s Hospital.
The conference’s main topics were:
- Implementing the European Commission’s project in Ukraine;
- Medical and pedagogical rehabilitation, conductive education;
- European proposals of early intervention in the experience of the Peto Institute;
- Introducing modern European medical technologies on the base of the Rosynka Rehabilitation Center at Zakarpattia Oblast Children’s Hospital;
- Comprehensive rehabilitation for children with cerebral palsy;
- The role of remedial gymnastic in comprehensive rehabilitation for children with cerebral palsy.
The participants of the conference also familiarized themselves with the work of the Rosynka rehabilitation center, winner of the First All-Ukrainian Grant Competition for Patient Care and Rehabilitation Facilities for Children with Cerebral Palsy in 2006, which received a UAH 50,000 grant for equipping a swimming pool. The competition is held on an annual basis as part of the Joy of the Childhood: Free Movements program by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation and TNK-BP Commerce company.
