Kateryna Yushchenko Elected Head of the Board of Trustees of the Children’s Hospital of the Future Charitable Program
July 24, 2007, the Board of Trustees of the Children’s Hospital of the Future Charitable Program held its first meeting at the Ukrainian House in Kyiv. The event took place at the Big Exhibition Hall, featuring the Draft Project of the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health exhibition presenting the proposals submitted for the competition to select general designer of the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health.
The Board of Trustees was created to secure the participation of the biggest donators in the process of creating the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health, as well as civil control over the execution of the Children’s Hospital of the Future Charitable Program.
The members of the Board of Trustees are:
- Kateryna Yushchenko, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund;
- Yuri Antypkin, President of the Pediatrists’ Association of Ukraine, Director of the Pediatrics, Obstetrics, and Gynecology Research Institute, Academician of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, M.D., and Professor;
- Tetiana Bakhteyeva, People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the Fifth Convocation, Head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Health Care;
- James Temerty, Chairman of the Northland Power Inc. Company, Canada;
- Kostiantyn Zhevaho, Head of the Finance and Credit Group;
- Natalia Izosymova, Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine’s Development Charitable Fund;
- Borys Kolesnikov, People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the Fifth Convocation;
- Volodymyr Kosterin, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Transbank JSCB;
- Viktor Pinchuk, President of the Interpipe Corporation;
- Ihor Tarasiuk, Head of the State Administration of the President of Ukraine;
- Serhiy Taruta, Head of the Board of Directors of the Donbas Industrial Alliance Corporation;
- Eduard Shyfryn, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Zaporizhstal Association.
The first meeting of the Board of Trustees was dedicated to organizing issues. Members of the Board of Trustees and their representatives – Mrs. Yushchenko, Mr. Antypkin, Ms. Bakhteyeva, Mr. Temerty , Ms. Izosymova, Messrs. Kolesnikov, Kosteryn, Tarasiuk, Thomas Amond-Laritas (President of the Viktor Pinchuk’s Fund: Social Initiatives Charitable Organization representing Mr. Pinchuk), and Volodymyr Khlyvniuk (Head of the Board of Directors of the Finance and Credit Bank, representing Mr. Zhevaho) took part in the event along with representatives of the Children’s Hospital of the Future Charitable Fund – Advisor to the Head of the Supervisory Board Andriy Myroshnichenko and Member of the Supervisory Board Oleksandra Mushkudiani.
The first issue on the agenda was electing the management of the Board of Trustees of the Children’s Hospital of the Future Charitable Program. Mrs. Yushchenko was elected Head of the Board of Trustees, Ms. Bakhteyeva – Deputy Head, and Mr. Antypkin – Secretary of the Board.
Besides, Mr. Miroshnychenko reported on the results of the Children’s Hospital of the Future Charitable Fund activities and proposed for consideration the plan of the Children’s Hospital of the Future Charitable Program. The Board of Trustees approved the report and plan of the Children’s Hospital of the Future Charitable Program.
After the meeting, the members of the Board of Trustees held a short briefing for mass media representatives.
These days, events within the framework of the procedure of the competition to select general designer of the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health are hosted by the Ukrainian House. The contest was announced May 21, 2007. Seven proposals were submitted to the contest, which are now presented at the Big Exhibition Hall of the Ukrainian House. July 25-26, the Contest Committee will hold its meetings. It is planned that the winner will be announced July 26.
The project to create the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health was initiated by the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund in March 2006. This is Ukraine’s biggest charitable project. During the year 2006, the Fund’s workers carried out various events and presentations to promote the project in Ukraine. December 17, 2006, 11 Ukrainian TV channels aired the Children’s Hospital of the Future All-Ukrainian Telethon to raise funds for the hospital construction, raising almost UAH 250,000,000 in cash and declarations. As of July 24, 2007, UAH 261,344,515 was declared to be donated for the construction.
