Conditions of the Contest of Art Objects for the Contemporary Arts Park at the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health

September 13, 2007, the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund announced the start of a multilevel contest of designs for a contemporary arts park to be laid out at the All-Ukrainian Center to Protect Mothers’ and Children’s Health, Children’s Hospital of the Future, grounds.

Creating a permanent exposition of contemporary art in the hospital’s ground will be important not only for professional art reasons, but also will promote contemporary art genres. The existence of this park, accessible to many hospital visitors, will influence the esthetic development of Ukrainian art consumers and adequate perception of contemporary art genres by broad public.

Along with its general artistic and social tasks, the park of the Children’s Hospital will serve to a local psycho-emotional purpose: creating a positive environment for complicated medical treatment processes. Such environment will help to improve the psychological condition of the little patients and their parents, diverting them from the thoughts about their disease and inspiring with happy prospects for their future.

Artists, sculptors, designers, architects, or students of the respective colleges are invited to take part in the contest along with artists’ unions and associations caring about the situation in the contemporary art, afflicted with the need to fulfill themselves in creative work, overflowing with brilliant, original, and unusual ideas, and prepared for fruitful cooperation.

The contest projects will be selected by an Expert Commission in three stages. The organizers reserve the right to appoint the commission members.

The first stage requires submitting projects in the form of ideas, without mandatory physical models. The goal of this stage is finding creative persons possessing free and original thinking. Thus, no technical conditions or limitations are set up at this stage.

The second stage applicants submit projects with detailed description and illustrative material, plus estimates.

At the third stage the participants will defend the final version of their project before a competent audience. Basing on the results of the discussion, the Expert Committee will select a certain number of projects to receive financial aid for their execution in the Children’s Hospital of the Future grounds.
