Addressing the guests, MRS. Yushchenko described the Ukrainian Cinema Foundation created on the initiative of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Fund. She emphasized that the Foundation’s priority was presenting and promoting the Ukrainian cinema globally. “We are happy to have made one of the first and most important steps to make Ukrainian cinema popular and fashionable,” she said. “We’ll work on finding and supporting young talents who will eventually create modern Ukrainian cinema.”

The parties discussed Ukraine’s participation in the Berlin International Film Festival and exchanged their experience in involving non-state funds into supporting national cinema.

The participants of the meeting discussed the cooperation between Ukrainian film producers and International Federation of Film Producers Associations. In part, Mr. Ginisty proposed to organize a series of conferences or roundtables at the Molodist Film Festival aimed at involving Ukrainian producers into the international network.

The major topic for the discussion was Ukraine’s participation in the Cannes Film Festival and Film Market. This year Ukraine will have its own pavilion at the festival. So, the participants of the meeting discussed a serried of events aimed at its promotion. Besides, the aprties discussed the possibility of including a retrospect of Ukrainian film classics into the official program of the Cannes Festival.

The roundtable participants resolved to draft an address to the Ukrainian government, including all proposals voiced at the roundtable, and suggest creating an interim workgroup to study possibilities for improving the situation with rehabilitation and treatment for children with special needs. The workgroup will work with problems of rendering high quality medical and social rehabilitation to children with special needs and work out a concept of uniting efforts from the state, business, and NGOs in solving these issues.

Ms. Barynova-Kuleba presented to Mrs. Yushchenko her creative works, whose major topics are her native country, woman and mother, work, rustic life, nature, love for Ukraine, the history of the Ukrainians, expressed through various artistic techniques and methods.

Mrs. Yushchenko congratulated Ms. Kriukova, who was awarded with the Hero of Ukraine title by a presidential order. The Order was red out by Head of the Chief Humanitarian Policy and Cultural Heritage Administration at the Secretariat of the President Oleksandr Bystrushkin.
