In course of the conversation, Mrs. Yushchenko and Mr. Camdessus exchanged opinions on the events of the Ecumenical Social Week, which is being held these days in Lviv. Mr. Camdessus thanked Mrs. Kateryna for granting her support to the Ecumenical week. He expressed his hope that the idea of Social weeks would find wide support in Ukraine. Also, Mr. Camdessus shared his experience in conducting such events in France.

In her speech at the unveiling, Mrs. Yushchenko thanked the German party for their support in organizing the exhibition and their attention to this topic. “The world has finally started talking about the Ukrainian tragedy,” she said. “We hope that the next step will be recognition of Holodomor on the level of many countries and most influential international institutions. Recognizing and commemorating the innocent victims is our Christian, public, and human duty.”

In course of the meeting Mrs. Kateryna introduced those presents to Ukraine’s current economical situation, outlining the changes in this area in the last 3-4 years. She said that the Ukrainian market at present is one of the fastest-moving in Europe, which should attract the investors to Ukraine. Mrs. Yushchenko expressed her hope that the current visit would further the growth of the volume and amount of foreign investment in Ukraine.

Within this program’s framework, an American professionals’ team renders surgical and diagnostic aid to Ukrainian children with cardiac malformations.

Mrs. Yushchenko congratulated Ms. Kriukova, who was awarded with the Hero of Ukraine title by a presidential order. The Order was red out by Head of the Chief Humanitarian Policy and Cultural Heritage Administration at the Secretariat of the President Oleksandr Bystrushkin.
