
Kateryna Yushchenko Visits University of Pittsburgh Medical Center

November 29, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko visited the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, accompanied by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine in the United Stated Oleh Shamshur, representative of Pittsburg medical community Dr. Daniel Pitukh, Directod of the Ukraine 3000 Foundation’s Medical Programs Dept. Vira Pavliuk, and Ukraine 3000 Foundation members.
The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is one of the US leading medical research centers. It has many medical institutions, research institutes, and laboratories.
Mrs. Yushchenko visited the Shadyside Hospital, touring its premises and meeting with its management. The hospital staff members presented to Mrs. Yushchenko its programs, carried out at the Shadyside Hospital, in part, in oncology, onco-hematology, trauma surgery, and otolaryngology, and described their plans for the future.
Kateryna Yushchenko also familiarized herself with the work of the Hillman Cancer Center.
After that, Mrs. Yushchenko visited the so-called Old Children’s Hospital, touring its premises and meeting with staff members and patients.
Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko also visited the construction site of the New Children’s Hospital to be put in operation in April 2009. Mrs. Kateryna visited the new buildings and familiarized herself with the construction progress. The management presented the architectural design in details, demonstrating innovative architectural and technological solutions used in the new hospital design.
Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko and Ukraine 3000 Foundation members are staying in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with a working visit on an invitation from the local Ukrainian community.
