
Ukraine 3000 Foundation Gives the Unique Ukraine Award at the Fifteenth Book Publisher’s Forum in Lviv

September 11, 2008, Head of the Board of Directors of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Oleksandr Maksymchuk and members of the Foundation took part in the opening ceremony of the Fifteenth Book Publisher’s Forum at the Lviv Opera House.
In course of the ceremony, the Foundation delivered the Unique Ukraine award to the best book on historical and cultural topics. This year the award was given to the Big Illustrated Encyclopedia of Ukraine by Kyiv-based Makhaon Ukraine Publishers. The 500-paged, richly illustrated book contains comprehensive information on our country.
The Ukraine 3000 Foundation intends to purchase copies of this book to the sum of UAH 20,000 to donate them to Ukraine’s libraries.
Also, the event featured an awards ceremony for the winners of the Book Publishers’ Forum’s Best Book 2008 Competition, directed by Roman Viktiuk.
The Book Publishers’ Forum public organization was founded in 1994. Its goal is drawing public attention to the most urgent problems in the contemporary Ukrainian book publishing and support the traditional of professional discussions and workshops. In the last years, the Forum has featured numerous actions for the broad public, aimed at popularizing the reading among children and young people. Not only Ukrainian and foreign writers and publishers actively cooperate with the Forum, but also stars of the sports and show business, politicians, public, charitable, and commercial entities. This year the Forum is taking place from September 11 to 14.
In 2007, a series of books on Holodomor manmade famine, published with the support of Ukraine 3000 Foundation, was presented at the Lviv Forum.
