Kateryna Yushchenko Attends People’s Artiste of Ukraine Neonila Kriukova Soiree

August 22, 2008, Head of the Supervisory Board of the Ukraine 3000 International Charitable Foundation Kateryna Yushchenko attended a soiree for People’s Artiste of Ukraine, laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine Neonila Kriukova. The participants of the event, hosted by the Hall of Columns of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine and dedicated to the 17th anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence, were renowned people of art and culture.
Mrs. Yushchenko congratulated Ms. Kriukova, who was awarded with the Hero of Ukraine title by a presidential order. The Order was red out by Head of the Chief Humanitarian Policy and Cultural Heritage Administration at the Secretariat of the President Oleksandr Bystrushkin.
The program featured a literary-and-musical composition based on works by Taras Shevchenko, Ivan Franko, Andriy Malyshko, Vasyl Symonenko, Borys Oliynyk, Dmytro Pavlychko, Lina Kostenko, Ukrainian folk songs and tunes. Nila Kriukova was reciting in her wheelchair, once again demonstrating her undefeatable spirit.
Renowned Ukrainian recite Neonila Kriukova was born in 1952 in Kirovohrad oblast. She graduated from the Kyiv Theater School, worked at the Poltava Gogol Music and Drama Theater, Slovo [Word] Literary Theater at the Writers’ Union of Ukraine. In 1975, she became an artiste with the National Philharmonic of Ukraine. During the years of her creative work, Kriukova has prepared 17 solo concert programs, based on works by Ukrainian writers, receiving warm welcome from the audience in Ukraine and abroad. The most popular is her Our Thought, Our Song Will Never Die! program based on Shevchenko poems, which brought the actress the Shevchenko Prize. In summer 2006, Ms. Kriukova received a grave spinal injury and since then stays in a wheelchair. However, this doesn’t prevent her from performing at concerts and soirees.
