The honor of unveiling the plaque placed at the entrance of the Ukrainian Cultural and Informational Center in Freedom Square was given to Head of the Sevastopol City State Administration Sergey Kunitsyn and Commander of the Naval Forces of Ukraine Vice Admiral Ihor Teniukh.

Memorial services for the dead will take place in all Ukraine’s regions. The main one will be at St. Sophia Cathedral. The President and his wife will come to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Kyiv Patriarchate along with leaders of the government and Church to commemorate the victims of Holodomor, KP in Ukraine informs.

The first Complicity action in the memory of Holodomor victims was held in 2003 by the Ukrainian Youth Union of Australia and Ternopil local UYU members. Last year people from Georgia, Great Britain, and Slovakia took part in the action along with Ukrainian citizens.

In part, a memorial service will be held at the Epiphany Cathedral with the participation of, to quote the ambassador, “representatives of Ukrainian NGOs, diplomats of the Ukrainian embassy, Moscow-based Ukrainians, and Russians – everybody caring about the memory of the victims of those horrible times.”

The exposition includes part of the archive documents from Soviet national security bodies declassified by SSU in August 2006 (in total, around 5,000 archive units): orders, directives, secret documents, statistics, criminal files, letters by peasants, Red Army soldiers and representatives of other social groups.

Mrs. Yushchenko congratulated Ms. Kriukova, who was awarded with the Hero of Ukraine title by a presidential order. The Order was red out by Head of the Chief Humanitarian Policy and Cultural Heritage Administration at the Secretariat of the President Oleksandr Bystrushkin.
